Super comfortable platforms. I don't even need to break them in at all. I have a fairly athletic build. So I had to loosen the strings from the factory setting (the tightest). It took a while but it worked pretty well. I suspect that those who complained didn't take the time to loosen it all the way. I do recommend some decently thick socks with it. I normally wear a size 3 in kids or 4 in women and the 5 doesn't bother me. I love the height (about 4 inches) it adds.
